In 2024, we saw a broader spectrum of attacks emanating from a greater spread of threat actor groups. Ransomware remained the most prevalent incident type handled by Pinsent Masons’ cyber team and we saw a greater range of ransom demands, from $40,000 to $70 million, with only 25% of clients electing to pay. It is noteworthy that all clients who paid a ransom demand held cyber insurance.
The latest report examines the matters handled by the team in 2024, provides insight into the ongoing challenges and exposures for businesses in respect of third-party risk, and shares a brief update on the cyber regulatory landscape for each of the jurisdictions within which Pinsent Masons operates.
