Multinational law firm Pinsent Masons has advised Cognex on the acquisition of 100% of the share capital of SAC Sirius Advanced Cybernetics GmbH (SAC), a technology company based in Karlsruhe, Germany.
SAC is a provider of lighting technology, manufacturing image processing software, hardware and imaging sensor systems.
Cognex is publicly traded on the Nasdaq stock market and is the world’s leading manufacturer of machine vision systems, software and sensors used in automated manufacturing to inspect and identify parts, detect defects, verify product assemble and guide assembly robots. Cognex is headquartered in Massachusetts, USA and has offices and distributors located throughout the Americas, Europe, and Asia.
The acquisition provides Cognex with industry-leading computer-aided illumination technology and will further enhance its defect detection capabilities – particularly within the manufacturing of electric vehicles.
The Pinsent Masons team acting on the transaction was led by Tobias Rodehau. The deal team comprised, among others, Florian Anselm, Julia Ohlerich and Joël Hofmann.
Commenting on the deal Tobias Rodehau said: "This transaction highlights our proven cross-border approach to M&A transactions and is another good example of our multidisciplinary approach to complex Tech-M&A deals."
