Introduction

Our two-year trainee program is thoughtfully designed and structured to provide you with a practical and enjoyable experience that truly mirrors the daily activities of our lawyers. You will collaborate with lawyers at various levels on real client projects, benefiting from structured work-based learning, skills training, and engaging presentations.

What is the recruitment process?

Our recruitment process for this programme includes the following steps:

  • 01. Online application

    Apply through our online application system. Read the questions, think about your responses and double-check everything before submitting.

  • 02. Interview

    All applications are screened to a pre-defined framework and shortlisted candidates who best demonstrate that they meet our criteria will be contacted and invited to attend an interview with one of our lawyers and member of the HR team.

  • 03. Offer

    Whatever the outcome, we will let you know after your interview. If you meet our core capabilities and perform well throughout the interview, we will offer you a place on our trainee programme.

Please submit the following documents during your online application:

  • Cover letter indicating your interested area(s) of practice, your earliest availability, and preferred location (Beijing or Shanghai)
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Academic transcripts for undergraduate and/or above
  • Graduate certificate(s)
  • PRC National Bar examination certificate (if applicable)
  • Admission certificate(s) or qualification in jurisdiction(s) outside Mainland China (if applicable)
  • Any other supporting documentation you consider relevant

Trainee retention

Our investment in your training means that we will do everything possible to continue your career with us after your 2-year contract. We carefully control the number of trainees in the business to maximise retention and to make sure that it meets our business requirement. Resource planning ensures that you will be given the highest quality of work, which will stretch you further and allow you to quickly learn and develop.

We run a fair and transparent selection process. Our HR team works with the business to identify which roles are available. The recruitment process is centrally managed and includes interviews and technical skills assessments. The outcomes will be based on your performance at assessment and throughout your trainee programme. This gives you every opportunity to further your career with a leading, well-respected firm in your chosen area of law.
