After graduating in 2012, I was a summer student in Pinsent Masons’ Edinburgh office, which ultimately led to be starting my traineeship with the firm in 2014. This included a six-month client secondment in London that confirmed my preference for joining the construction disputes team on qualification. Although my NQ role was based in Glasgow, I was working in Pinsent Masons offices across the UK on a regular basis. The opportunity to work abroad then came up via the firm’s Stride programme, and in late 2019 I started an internal secondment in our Hong Kong office. I thoroughly enjoyed my time working in the APAC region, and after returning to the UK over the pandemic, I permanently relocated to Singapore, where I have now been for over a year.
The culture at Pinsent Masons has facilitated me in shaping my career progression in terms of both location and expertise. Being exposed to different work in different locations continues to be both challenging and exciting. I enjoy working with and for colleagues from different educational and cultural backgrounds, experiencing ‘diversity of thought’ first hand.
