Acton Gardens submits planning application for Ealing estate regeneration


Acton Gardens, a joint venture between Countryside Properties and L&Q, has submitted an application for outline planning permission for the whole of the regeneration of Ealing's largest housing estate, South Acton.

Acton Gardens has already been granted planning permission for 167 homes and has plans to build around 2,500 homes. 

As well as the outline application for the whole estate, the joint venture has submitted a detailed application for the second phase of its plan. The masterplan application seeks to deliver areas with different styles of building and different property sizes; new outdoor places; traditional streets with gardens, pavements and parking; a new station square and cafe; communal gardens and courtyards, and views, pathways and keep-fit trails.

Planning permission was granted by the London Borough of Ealing in January 2011 for the initial phase of the redevelopment. That was for 167 dwellings of which half will be affordable. The first homes are located on Bollo Bridge Road and will consist of one, two and three bedroom homes to be completed in late 2012.

The overall vision for the redevelopment is to reconnect the South Acton estate to the wider neighbourhood through the creation of the Acton Gardens 'urban village'.

When planning permission was granted in January 2011 for the initial phase, Richard Cherry, Deputy Chairman of Countryside Properties, said:  “we recognise that this is an outstanding opportunity to address the physical, social and economic regeneration of not just the estate itself, but also the wider South Acton area".

“We look forward to continuing our work with the residents, the council and the HCA to develop a project that will transform the estate and continue our mission of creating places where people want to live," said L&Q chief executive David Montague.
