Existing apartment buildings on Beardow Grove, Coverack Close and Shepcot House will be demolished and replaced by new flats, houses and maisonettes under the scheme. Of the 451 new homes proposed, 140 will be affordable homes and the remaining 311 will be for private sale.
The proposals also include a pre-school nursery and a multi-purpose community centre.
Enfield Council's cabinet member for housing and estate regeneration, Ahmet Oykener, said in a statement: "The selection of Countryside as our development partner for the New Avenue scheme is an important step towards the regeneration of the estate and the Council's commitment to ultimately deliver thousands of much needed new homes across the borough."
"People living in Enfield will be the main beneficiaries of this project," said Oykener. "They will have the first opportunity to purchase the new homes. Tenants will keep their secure tenancies should they choose to remain on the estate and local people will be prioritised with regard to jobs and training opportunities."
Countryside said work on the site was expected to commence in early 2016 and end in spring 2023.
