King's Lynn and West Norfolk consults on CIL preliminary draft charging schedule

King's Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council has opened a consultation on its community infrastructure levy (CIL) preliminary draft charging schedule (PDCS), proposing rates of up to £60 per square metre for residential developments.

The Council has proposed, in the PDCS (8-page / 215 KB PDF), to divide the borough into two charging zones for residential developments. In "the un-parished area of Kings Lynn", a residential development rate of £10 per sq m has been proposed. In the rest of the borough, a rate of £60 per sq m has been proposed for residential developments, including sheltered and retirement housing.

A borough-wide charge of £100 per sq m has been proposed for the development of supermarkets, retail warehouses and hotels.

All other chargeable development in the borough would attract a charge of £10 per sq m under the PDCS.

The public consultation ends on 27 February.
