The application was submitted to the City of London Corporation and includes plans for a new nine storey office building, with versatile space on the ground floor for retail use or a gymnasium. The façade to South Place will be partially retained under the plans.
Under the plans Mitsubishi Estate Company also hopes to construct a roof top garden on top of the main building and provision has been made for a disabled car parking space and cycle parking and other associated ancillary works.
The total floorspace of River Plate House covers 23,928 square metres.
The existing building was completed by Hammerson in 1988.
