The outline planning application for the Olympia Park scheme has been submitted to Selby District Council. The proposed 60 hectare development would be built on land between Barlby Road and the Selby bypass.
The landowner, an animal feed manufacturer, has proposed plans for 1,000 new homes, green space and up to 25 hectares of new employment space. The site includes land which was formerly used for industrial purposes.
"Olympia Park is a new eastern gateway to Selby that will deliver new homes and new employment and social, environmental and economic benefits which will facilitate the sustainable expansion of Selby," the landowner said.
"This large masterplanning commission is for a mixed use urban extension to the east of Selby. The current proposals are identified as a strategic site in the emerging Core Strategy and extends to around 100 hectares," said Spawforths, consultants for the scheme.
It is thought that, subject to the successful grant of planning permission, the landowners will market the site to potential housebuilders.
